Our Story
Evergreen Wealth Management is an independent advisory firm. We believe this gives us the objectivity and sovereignty to counsel clients without a corporate “push”—we custody our client’s assets through Fidelity Investments. Evergreen Wealth Management has access to the resources of a full-service financial service leader, including a large platform of product choices and account types while maintaining the intimacy and freedom of a boutique firm.

David is the founding principal of Evergreen Wealth Management. With nearly 20 years of wealth management experience, he decided to start his own firm in January 2022. Specializing in retirement income needs and multi-generational wealth succession planning, he helps clients properly structure income in retirement and efficiently pass on wealth to heirs or philanthropic organizations. A deep understanding of what’s important to clients, both financially and personally, is the centerpiece of David’s practice.
Prior to founding Evergreen Wealth, David spent six years as a partner at COVA Wealth Management in Brentwood. His first ten years in the financial services industry were spent as a Vice President and Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch in Jackson and Nashville, Tennessee. In 2009, he obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, held by only 1 out of 5 advisors nationally. David also serves as an adjunct professor, teaching financial planning at Middle Tennessee State University's Jones College of Business. He is both a Skyhawk and Blue Raider, earning his B.S. from UT Martin in 2002 and MBA from Middle Tennessee State University in 2004.
His interests include (but are not limited to) Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Cardinals, National Parks, live music and sports, and most recently, table tennis. David's been to over fifty shows at the Ryman Auditorium but can't play a single instrument. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his son Jack Dunagan, a senior at Battle Ground Academy and a fervent Miami Dolphins fan. Also, Bob the Boykin Spaniel, a fervent fan of tennis balls and swimming in the Harpeth River.
